For
the first visit, you only have to step outside to your neighbor.
The Arctic-Color Gallery is located in the old station house next to the apartments. Here you can watch the work of your host, Patricia Cowern. She has been photographing the Arctic nature for years.
Next
on your list can be Björn Thunborg Viltaffär.
This game specialty shop of recently passed away (september 2010) Björn Thunborg is able to look
back on a history of nearly 40 years. Their products include the most finest
game-specialities, which Lapland's nature has to offer. All Lapland-specialities
like smoked reindeer and moose meat, mountain-fish from the local lakes
and salmon are prepared to old traditional recipes. Also you can get your
souvenirs and mountain supplies here. Birgit Thunborg welcomes you!
Take
a visit to almost 100 years of Hydro Power. Porjus would not exist if the
Vattenfall power company chose this location in early 1900.
Porjus has been providing clean electricity since. Understand how the water
creates power, see how the old pioneers of Porjus lived as they built the
power station. Visit the old blacksmiths and see the old building machines
of the past.
Want to go to the sauna or indoor sports? There is a fully equipped hall with all kinds of sports gear and a gym.
When
staying in the apartment, you will probably need your groceries. In the ICA
supermarket you can find everything you need for your stay. Fresh
vegetables and bread is delivered daily by bus.
The specialty is swedish cooking and baking. Fresh meals and cookies are prepared daily. There is also a Thai food section for Oriental fans. Everything out of stock or on demand is delivered the next day, that includes wine and liquors. The ICA is open 6 days a week.
The
Porjus hill and skislope provides a stunning view of the surrounding nature.
When the weather is clear, it is possible to see Swedens highest mountain
Kebnekaise at the border with Norway. The skislope runs a lift and apres
ski 3 days a week and is suitable for beginners and experienced skiers
